Your Treatment When you come to your treatment, we will ask you some questions about yourself so that we can build up a picture about you. You see we need to understand not only the reason why you have come to us but also your medical history and general health, your lifestyle, leisure activities and day to day routine. By listening to you carefully and asking the right questions we will be able to get an insight into why the problem occurred, what's aggravating it and how we can correct it. This is an important part of our treatment because although two people may come to us with the same outward problem, the method of treatment could well be quite different because we are all individuals and respond differently.
We will then ask you to perform some simple movements to see how your body moves. At this point we will discuss our findings with you and suggest a treatment plan for you, including the number of treatments we believe will be necessary and the cost. You must feel free to ask questions at any point, indeed we welcome them.
We believe a very "hands-on" approach to be the most effective. We have a wide range of methods dependent on the injury and age of each individual. We could use massage techniques for muscles and ligaments, exercises, passive stretching and traction to joints, or cranial osteopathy through to manipulation of joint restrictions and high velocity thrusts to spinal joint restrictions. We might use ultra sound to cure some specific injuries such as tendonitis, or ligament injuries to the knee for instance. Acupuncture can be used if required and we even have a swing table for chronic disc problems.
Treatment may also include advice on exercises to gain mobility or strength between visits or ergonomic advice on work postures beneficial to your injury. We always ensure that the exercises can be performed without aggravating the underlying cause of the pain though. In this way we are proactive and get the damaged tissue to heal first before considering rehab exercises. If a condition requires further referral, whether for an MRI scan, x-ray or an orthopaedic assessment, we have a range of contacts and hospitals that offer the clinic very good discounts. Remember that all treatments will be discussed with you first so that we can find the best and the most comfortable treatment for you personally.
